Morphology |
|
| These trees attain a height up to 100 to 150 feet. The trunk is about 12 feet in diameter. The branches appears in such a way that the tree appears round when seen from apex. Bark is 1 to 2 inch thick, having dark brown in color from outside and red in color from in side. Leaves are sharp and are about 9 to 15 inch long. Flowers are ½ inch long. Female cone (flower) is occurs single or may occurs in group of 4 to 5, oval in shape and has a height of 4 to 8 inch and breadth of 3 to 5 inch. Seeds near scales and is curved at the apex. Seeds are 0.3 inch long and bear a thin skin on it. |

| A resin is found in the trunk of the tree from which a oil is prepared that bears very similar properties like that of a turpentine oil. This resin is known as gandhabiroja. The leaves have aromatic oil that is about 0.23%. After the extraction of oil from the leaves the left over part is known as pine wool. From this gandhabiroja oil is being extracted that contains pinene, careen, longifolene and some other terpine |

| It is vata and papha suppressant. It helps in curbing the infection in the body and also posses the anti wormal activities due to the presence of pungent taste. It promotes healing of wounds. As it is hot in potency it helps in strengthening the nervous system. It also regularizes the digestive system as it is of hot potency. It also cleans up the respiratory system due to its mucus expelling properties as it possesses hot potency. It is good on skin related problems |

The oleo-raisin is used with success as an acrid, anodyne, antiinflammatory, antiseptic, aromatic, bitter, demulcent, diuretic, emmenagogue, expectorant, purgative, stimulant and stomachic. It is given in gleet, long-standing gonorrhoea and in similar affections of the genitourinary organs.
The oil obtained from the chir pine is valued as a rubefacient in various rheumatic affections, lumbago, arthritis and neuralgia. The oil is also useful in treating minor aches and pains.
Recommended Dosage : 2 to 4 g oleo-raisin; Oil : For external application only.
Contraindication : The oleo-raisin is contraindicated in bronchial asthma and whooping cough. The oil has no known warnings or contraindications.

ماہیت ۔ یہ درخت چیڑکامنجمد دودھ ہے۔چیڑ کے تنے کو جا بجا سے چھیل دیتے ہیں ۔ تو اس میں سے دودھ ٹپک کر جم جاتاہے۔ جو شروع میں سفید رنگ کا قدرے رقیق رور بعد میں بتدریج زرد منجمد اس کے بعد سرخ و خشک ہوجاتاہے ۔ بازار میں بہرور خشک وتر دو قسم کا دستیاب ہوتاہے ۔ اور دونوں اقسام ہی بطور دواء مستعمل ہیں ۔

افعال ۔ مسخن ، محلل ، ملین کاسرریاح ،محلل اورام و مجفف قروح نافع امراض بلغمیہ و عصبانیہ منفث و مخرج بلغم مدربول و حیض مخرج جنین و مثمیہ قاتل کرم شکم ۔
استعمال ۔ اندرونی طورپربروزہ کو زیادہ تر بشکل سفوف و حبوب پرانے سوزاک میں استعمال کرتے ہیں ۔ بہروزہ یا ست بہروزہ کو گردہ و مثانہ کے زخم کوبھرنے کے اوصاف بدرجہ اتم موجود ہیں ۔نیز اس کا روغن کشید کرکے استعمال کرتے ہیں روغن بہروز ہ شکر سفید ملاکر دق و سل میں کھلانامفید ہے۔
تیل نکالنے کا طریقہ ۔
گندہ بہروزہ اور آم کی لکڑی کی راکھ ہموزن ملاکر قرع انبیق میں کھینچتے ہیں سات چھٹانک گندہ بہروزہ میں سے ایک چھٹانک بھر تیل نکلتاہے۔
بیرونی استعمال ۔ مجفف قروح ہونے کی وجہ سے اکژ مرہموں میں شامل کرتے ہیں ۔یہ ان زخموں کیلئے مفیدہے ۔ جس میں کیڑے پڑگئے ہوں تو ان کو ہلاک کرکے زخم میں تازہ گوشت پیداکرتاہے۔اوران کو جلد خشک کردیتاہے۔خنازیر وغیرہ کے تحلیل کرنے کے لئے بطور ضماداًاستعمال کرتے ہیں ۔ اورام رحم ادرار حیض اخراج جلین و مشمیہ کیلئے اکلاًو حمولاًمستعمل ہے ۔
